Wheat Parotta with Salna

Parotta is a popular street food in the southern state of Kerala and Tamilnadu. It is a layered flat bread which you can in the streets and shops very much in the evening and night time.Almost all the people love to have the parotta with salna. Salna is the best match for the parotta. Even i am fan of it...But now as we are lock down and cannot have outside food.Lets try it at home. It is made with maida and oil , today we will prepare it with wheat flour to make it healthy for our kids.


Lets start preparing wheat parotta and Salna.....



INGREDIENTS FOR WHEAT PAROTTA


  • Wheat flour - 2 cup

  • butter or ghee - 1/2 cup

  • Salt - As required

  • water - As required


INSTRUCTIONS:

  • In a bowl add wheat flour , melted butter (3 tbsp), salt mix it well. Add water as required and mix it till you get a soft dough.



  • Keep it aside for minimum 1 hour.(keeping more than that make the dough more soft)

  • Now take a big plate or plane sheet to roll the dough into chapatti form, make the dough as thin as you can make.




  • Apply butter on the top and fold it in a flip flop shape and then roll it in a circular form as made in the photo to a flat dough again.

  • Roll the dough again in little thick chapatti form.



  • In a tawa cook the parotta on both sides.

  • Soft and fluffy parotta is ready.




 Wheat parotta is very soft and tastes delicious.


INGREDIENTS FOR SALNA


  • Onion - 1 no( big)

  • Tomato - 1 no(big)

  • potato - 1 no

  • Oil

  • ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp

  • Curry leaves - few

  • fennel seeds - 1 tbsp

  • cinnamon - small pieces

  • green cardamom - 2 nos

  • cloves - 3 nos

  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

  • Chilli powder - 1 tbsp

  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp

  • Garam masala - 1 tbsp

  • Fresh coriander leaves

  • mint leaves - few

  • coconut - 1/2 cup

  • cashew - few


INSTRUCTIONS:

  • In a pan add oil , once it is hot add all the spices , curry leaves.let it splutter add onion ,once the onion is translucent add ginger garlic paste stir fry it.





  • Once the raw smell goes off , add tomato and potato.Add salt and mint leaves.

  • In a jar grind grated coconut and cashew.



  • In the meantime the potato and tomato get soft.Add all the masala and little water and stir fry till the masala get cooked.

  • Add the coconut paste and water.Mix it well and let it boil till the oil gets separated.



  • Garnish with coriander leaves. Salna is ready.
